This was a fun read! It has everything that I love, some action, some thoughtful consideration of life, some romance, some travel with descriptions of different places I might like to see. The story line remains intact and understandable even when there are years between chapters. The characters are believable and the action scenes flow really well. Some of the most difficult chapters are the true story of many people--makes me consider what we can do to offer those people a future and a hope. Even though the ending doesn't leave you hanging....I was still really sad when it ended. I hope that there might be a sequel!

Hummingbird David Stearman 9781946016317 Books Reviews

I couldn't put it down!!! I don't consider myself a very fast reader but this was so good that I had it read in just a couple days! It's an easy read with lots of twists and turns. Having lived in Mexico in the past, I was familiar with some of the places and history from this story and I have to say, the author really did his homework.
I loved this book! Especially the Christian doctrine which included the supernatural, which is rare in Christian books! Really, really good! This was the first book I read by this author, so I tried to find more, and found only one, "Falling for Cloe," which I'm reading now. It's not nearly as good as Hummingbird, and I've read half of it, but perhaps it will improve.
I enjoyed this story so much, especially the way it illustrated how God sets the solitary in familes. Keep it up!
I truly fell in love with this book! The characters are so real, you feel as though you know them, or would like to.
Lexa flees to Mexico after pulling an armed robbery for money to help her brother. There, she finds family, God, & her real birthplace. This book will warm your heart!
I am moved by the story and the intrigue and flow of his writing. This kept me very engrossed. I look forward to more books by him.
The Good
I felt drawn into the characters' world after about the first quarter of the book. The main character's struggles are well-expressed, and you can see her change throughout the story. This book features a concrete theme, which I consider a good thing as this has long been a common standard in literature. Also, the spelling and grammar are good throughout.

The Bad
Unfortunately, I didn't like this book. Too many things happen in the story that are just not realistic, and this lends the whole thing a feeling of allegory or fantasy that I don't believe was intended. Also the side characters were only developed to the bare minimum which has reduced them to gaudy appliques rather than being woven into the story. Side plots were left unaddressed at the end of the story, giving the impression that the author forgot them. The beginning (1st quarter) is written so differently than the rest of the story that the sudden shift makes it feel disjointed. I stated earlier that the book had a theme which was a good thing. Unfortunately, this theme is at the expense of a moral compass. I am not trying to push my own opinion when I say this- a moral compass is essential to Christian fiction, and none of the characters has one.
Nicholas Sparks doesn't even have the ability to do what your writings do for me) lol How's that for a review.
Within the corridors of a novel i want 4 things,
1. To be intrigued
2. To be entertained
3. To escape
4. To be enriched ( to exit a novel leaving better than i came)

Thank you for meeting a readers needs😃 It rarely happens these days, therefore i read a few chapters, theow the book down and pick up my guitar and do something better with my time. I never throw a Stearman book down until i savor the final word)
